Built by people who were terrible at gift-giving.
It started with a familiar feeling: the annual panic of finding something thoughtful for a loved one who “doesn’t need anything.”
Where it came from
For our founder, the breaking point was another year of trying to find a gift for his dad — a man with specific hobbies and the standard response of “You don’t have to get me anything.” After hours spent scrolling the same generic “Top 10 Gifts for Dads” lists and almost giving up for a soulless gift card, there had to be a better way.
We were a small team of builders who weren’t gift-giving experts. We were the opposite: the ones who struggled. We knew the feeling of wanting to give something that actually meant something, and having no idea where to start.
What we built
We set out to make a tool that felt like talking to a thoughtful friend — one who listens to a short description of someone and comes back with ideas you’d never have found on your own.
Technology helps find patterns people miss. It’s an engine under the hood here, not the product. The product is a simple thing that helps you pay better attention to the people you care about.
Start with the person
We look at the intersection of interests, age, and personality — not a broad demographic.
Personal, not pricey
A gift’s value comes from how personal it feels, not how much it costs.
Less guesswork
Save hours of scrolling and get back the confidence that you’re giving something they’ll actually like.
Our promise
The Gift Tool stays simple, stays free, and stays private. We listen to feedback, we refine slowly, and we don’t add features just for the sake of it.
Thanks for trusting us with something that matters. We can’t wait to help you find something they’ll love.
To finding the right gift,
— The Gift Tool team
